With a company history dating back to the formation of Buckingham Plant Hire in 1955, over the past ten years Buckingham Group has been one of the fastest growing Civils, Rail and Construction Contractors in England. As details on the website serve to demonstrate, we have successfully managed a planned transition from Specialist Civils and Earthworks Contractor to an established Main Contractor, now undertaking significant multi-disciplinary construction projects in a range of sectors.

In managing this transformation process we were determined throughout to remain a privately owned and managed business, and to retain and develop high calibre directly employed staff across all disciplines, along with a strong in-house production capability in civils, remediation and earthworks. We believe these factors maximise our ability to control and manage the critical stages of all projects.

Turnover is set to reach the £150m level in 2008, from a base of £125m in 2007. We are a successful business, operating on a sound financial footing. We maintain a strong balance sheet in order to manage the ongoing growth of the company. The Company has already undertaken projects up to £60m in overall value, and whilst still catering for smaller scale contracts, we are equipped to take on larger multi-disciplinary projects depending upon the nature and timing of the specific opportunities.

We pride ourselves on the 'Can-Do' attitude of our Staff, Management and Directors. We seek to first understand what it is that our Clients require, and then deliver projects safely, on programme and to budget. We believe in treating our customers fairly based upon an open and trusting relationship between Client and Contractor. Our aim is to work for Clients of a like mind.

The majority of projects that we undertake are carried out on a design and build, fixed price basis. This engenders a very strong problem solving approach in our tendering and project staff. Consequently, irrespective of the contractual arrangements that might apply to a particular project, with the encouragement of the Directors, all of our tendering and site teams bring a very positive attitude to resolving technical and programme challenges that present themselves at any stage in the delivery process. We believe that this is a key factor in securing and then successfully managing projects, and as a consequence nurturing long term relationships with our customers, based upon providing an excellent service.

In addition to this positive approach and our directly employed and owned civils production resources, we also have a well established technical team dealing with Land Regeneration and Sustainability. This in-house team enables us at an early stage to understand and deal with environmental and contaminated land issues, along with the necessary ground improvement requirements that apply to many projects. The specialist in-house team is also charged with managing sustainability issues across the company and for specific projects. This is another key factor in helping many projects to progress well from the very start.
