The Water Orton Re-Signalling project involved the complete renewal of all signalling assets and major p’way renewals on 60 route miles of line extending from Water Orton to Nuneaton, Tamworth, Walsall and Kings Norton.

The works included the design and installation of:

  • 134 x straight post signals and foundations
  • 17 x cantilever/ gantry signal structures and foundations
  • 5 x REB
  • 5 x PSP
  • 120 x LOC foundations including 62 x raised LOC Platforms
  • Lift and shift of 35km signalling cable
  • 174 x drivers walkways
  • 11,000m retaining walls (300mm to 2m high)
  • Installation of 27km of new troughing route
  • Bridge repair and strengthening work
  • 14 x URX and 14 x UTX
  • Recovery of redundant signalling infrastructure
  • 2 Major Commissions over two 54hr possessions
