Excavation and restoration of a derelict section (1.2km stretch of canal at Bincknoll Lane to Hay Lane) of Studley Grange Canal between Royal Wootton Bassett and Swindon to form a navigable waterway between the Kennet & Avon Canal, Thames & Severn Canal and the River Thames. The works included:

  • Earthworks including disposal and placement of all excavated material and clay on the adjacent land
  • Trim all batters and canal basin to agreed levels
  • Tie into existing historic excavations
  • Feathering of the western and eastern ends of the historic excavations area
  • Reinstating a damaged towpath
  • Construction of a Gabion retaining wall using locally sourced stone
  • Sheet Piling work required to stabilise some of the canal bank
  • Ecological protection measures
